Arina Erdélyi
Arina Erdélyi is an artist and designer whose practice dwells on the gestures, rituals, and arrangements of domestic space. Grounded in a lineage of Transylvanian craft, spanning blacksmithing to furniture making, Erdélyi continues this inheritance instinctively. In her ongoing series of lighting, she stages architectural structures and interior scenes at diminished scale. By repeatedly pressing a single trimming of historic lace into her clay forms, Erdélyi shrouds her monolithic ceramic miniatures like fabric draped on furniture in preserved or abandoned rooms. These scenes are illuminated by silk-shaded light, casting them into shadowed, theatrical compositions. Recent exhibitions include LA Design Weekend and Felix Art Fair. Erdélyi lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. She holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
